I think the father’s problem was not so much lack of faith in Francis as a fear of the class system and how Francis could be beaten down by it as the father had obviously been. Both Francis and Eddie had youth and inexperience on their side. They didn’t know enough to realize they weren’t just there for the golf. We should all learn from them not to worry about the expectations of others and do what we love…with great passion.
